Flight of the Bumblebee

It is a widely accepted scientific fact that bumblebees defy all known laws of physics each time they flap their too-small wings and ascend to the sky with their too-heavy bodies. Perhaps this is because they are unaware of their limitations. What if we could be like the bumblebees?

Similar to bumblebees, we humans are social creatures, and we can also soar to great heights, but only if we allow ourselves to disregard our limitations. Like the bees, we can pollinate the people around us with messages of hope, leading to a new awakening. If we focus on our limitations, shortcomings, and restrictions, we cannot take flight.

Once we learn how to communicate effectively with others, we align our goals, listen to our inner wisdom, and no longer allow perceived shortcomings such as a too-big body or too-small wings to define us. Today, we can make the decision to not let any “too” negatively affect us. We must transform the limitations of a too-old, too-young, too-tongue-tied, or too-verbal mindset into an “I can fly” attitude and soar.

We will be amazed to see how we overcome any perceived limitations. This is in memory of my uncle Piet Jordaan, whose brilliant musical rendition of “The Flight of the Bumblebee” will always be remembered.
