Albert Einstein believed that to solve our problems, we must change our way of thinking because the same thinking that created the problems cannot solve them.

As the end of a year approaches, we often reflect on our lives and express a desire to avoid repeating the challenges we faced in the past. However, we may find ourselves repeating the same patterns and obstacles because we focus on what we lacked and could not achieve in the past rather than on the potential for a more positive future.
When we repeatedly tell ourselves that we cannot do something or that we do not want to do something, we limit ourselves and prevent positive change from occurring. Skiers are taught to focus on the path ahead rather than the obstacles they wish to avoid.
Our minds start as blank slates, but as we develop, we accumulate countless images, thoughts, habits, and routines that may not serve us well. These habits and routines can keep us stuck in our current position, but if we want to live a different life, we must learn from our past mistakes.
By becoming mindful and aware of our habits and practices, we can free ourselves from our past and take control of our lives. We can review our traditions and practices and retain only those that benefit us. We can change our mindset and focus on changing our thoughts and actions today to create a better future.
Ultimately, we want to receive the gifts that life has to offer, and we can do so by changing our way of thinking and focusing on positive change.
